World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (16 September 2013)

Osborne (2006) records the presence of a Yeomanry drill hall and stables, replaced after the Second World War by a modern Territorial Army Centre. The 3rd edition OS map marks buildings surrounding three sides of a yard. At that time the building (now on Chalmers Road) was entered from Belmont Avenue.

It is not clear which units were based in the drill hall in the First World war.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 16 September 2013.

Activities

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
