World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (8 August 2013)

The house at Ravensdale was requisitioned as the HQ and accommodation for the United States detachment at Corpach, in 1917-18. Mines for the Northern Mine Barrage were shipped in pieces to Corpach and then taken along the Caledonian Canal to Inverness (US Naval Base 18, see NH64NE 827) where they were assembled and loaded onto mine-layers.

Activities

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
