World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (18 June 2013)

A substantial two-storey building, built before the end of the 19th century, between Woolmanhill and Blackfriars Street. It is clearly marked on the 2nd edition OS 1:2500 map. In 1902 it was HQ of the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders. By 1920 it was Battalion HQ and drill station for A to H Companies, 4th Gordon Highlanders. It was demolished to accommodate road realignment in the late 20th century.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 18 June 2013.
