World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (10 June 2013)

A seaplane station was established at Thurso within days of the start of the First World War, on 13 August 1914. A Short S.38 seaplane was delivered by rail but had left by the end of August. By the end of 1914 this base had been merged with the seaplane station at Scapa Flow and closed.

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
