The Glenquoich Factor's notebooks describe two attempts to build an icehouse at the Lodge in the 1880s [a report is available on the Highland HER]. They provide a good description of the problems when building icehouses, and the use of sawdust for insulation.

It is unknown how long the icehouse survived. The lodge was demolished in 1955, and the remains are now submerged in Loch Quoich.
