Archaeology Notes

HY61NE 15 6710 1690

The kelper's bothy, now occupied by Mr Brogan, stands slightly to the W side of the summit of a broad low mound. S of the bothy is the foundation of another rectangular building. When digging the foundations for the wind-generator pylon to the SE of his house, or the mound summit, Mr Brogan went through about three feet of midden material and stone structures. At the bottom of this deposit in the SW of the four holes he found several sherds of Pictish pottery, most of which belong to a large carinated bowl with everted rim.

RCAHMS 1984, visited August 1983.
