NO40SE 5.07 47377 04350

A fine 17th century sundial, with a carved shaft and multi-surface heads, supporting a ball finial, is on the SW lawn at Balcarres House. The base and steps are modern. It came from Leuchars Castle (NO42SE 5).

Field Visit (17 August 1927)

SUNDIAL. The fine 17th-century dial illustrated in Fig. 49 [SC 1110930], now on the south-west lawn at Balcarres, was brought from Leuchars Castle (No. 401). The base and steps are modern.
