(NO 3527 9701) Church (In Ruins) On Site of (NAT) St Mungo's Chapel (NR) Font (NR)

OS 6" map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1903)

Formerly the parish church of Glengairn, disused c. 1805, now reduced to four walls, date of erection unknown, but thought to have been built on the site of an R.C. chapel dedicated to St Mungo. A stone font is embedded in the ground at the W end of the ruins.

Name Book 1868.

The ruins of a church probably 18th century, with the font placed in the SW angle, situated in a graveyard which is still used. No local information concerning date and dedication of earlier R.C. chapel.

Re-surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (N K B) 13 November 1968.
