(NO 3798 5415) Court Hillock (NR)

OS 6" map, Forfarshire and Angus, 2nd ed., (1922)

The Court Hillock, called a 'mote' by Reid (1909), had been levelled by 1884. Warden (1880-5) states that it was apparently in use up to 1632.

A J Warden 1880-85; A Reid 1909.

This feature is a small rounded mound, c. 15.0m in diameter and 1.0m high. It is rather small for a motte, but is now too vague to determine its original character. There is no ditch around its base.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (JLD) 12 September 1958.
