Archaeology Notes

NO35NE 23 3738 5681.

NO 375 567. A ring or ring pendant of jet, measuring 1" (25mm) in diameter and having three perforations, was found during drainage operations at Meams Farm. It is now in the Meffan Museum, Forfar. In the near vicinity of where the ring was found are two stone circles (NO35NE 24), an artificial mound and what appears to be a hut circle.

E Mann 1966.

NO 3738 5681 The spot at which this jet ornament was found was indicated on the map by Mr D Grant the farmer at Meams. It is still in the Meffan Museum.

Mr E Mann (44 Sheriff Park Gardens, Forfar) confirmed that the two stone circles mentioned are those at NO 3733 5736 (NO35NE 24). No trace was seen on the ground of either an artificial mound or a hut circle.
