(NO 3879 5911) Standing Stone (NR)

OS 6" map, Forfarshire and Angus, 2nd ed., (1927)

A large unsculptured boulder, 1.8m high by 1.6m by 0.7m with a flat top measuring about 1.1m by o.7m. It is situated on the crest of a south-facing slope. A few small stones lie at its base, but these are probably field clearance.

Name Book 1862; Visited by OS (JLD) 4 September 1958.

A standing stone as described in the field report of 4 September 1958. Surveyed at 1:2500.

Field Visit (August 1942)

This site was recorded as part of the RCAHMS Emergency Survey, undertaken by Angus Graham and Vere Gordon Childe during World War 2. The project archive has been catalogued during 2013-2014 and the material, which includes notebooks, manuscripts, typescripts, plans and photographs, is now available online.
