Watching Brief (21 March 2011 - 1 April 2011)
NH 8057 9568 A watching brief was undertaken 21 March–1 April 2011 during work to lay underground electricity cables. The cable trenches were machine excavated to a depth of c0.75m and revealed c0.3m of topsoil above clean sand. A single feature consisting of two parallel lines of stones, which appeared to indicate the presence of a former building, was recorded at HN 80553 95666. However, this could not be investigated in any detail within the confines of the trench.
