(NO 3505 3006 and NO 3513 3010) Gows of Gowrie (NR)

OS 6" map, Forfarshire, 2nd ed., (1926)

The Gows of Gowrie are "two unembellished boulders, each about two tons in weight, which lie upon the shore of the Tay immediately to the east of the kirkyard of Invergowrie. There is nothing in their appearance to attract notice; they are now separated from the Tay by the embankments of the railway line".

A Jervise 1859.

These would appear to have been two natural boulders, and from the topographical situation would have, at not so distant a time, been covered by the sea. They have disappeared, and their site occupied by a scrap-yard.

Visited by OS (J L D) 18 April 1958.
