Publication Account (2010)

By 1883, much of the Carron site ha been modernised. A brickworks was built adjacent to the High Foundry (NS88SE 76.XX) which was fired using blast furnace gases. The brickworks consisited of three kilns, drying area, drying and moulding shed with an overhead conveying system to move the clay from the grinding mills to the moulding area. The bricks made in the brickworks were used to line the stoves produced by the foundry department.

B Watters, 2010.
