Activities

Field Visit (17 March 1997 - 17 March 1997)

The slight remains of at least 4 buildings lie in rush-infested grassland near the confluence of the river Croe and the Abhainn Chonaig. They and their surrounding enclosure are ill-defined but include one c7m by c3m over slight founds c0.8m wide and c0.15m high. The enclosure within which these buildings are sited is a trapezoid c18m long in each of its dimensions.

It seems unlikely that this is the main settlement of Inchcroa as noted on the Roy survey of 1750. It is more likely that this is a cottars settlement on the floodplain between the rivers Croe and Chonaig.
