Activities

Field Visit (22 April 1997 - 22 April 1997)

A turf & stone dyke nearly 1m wide and surviving up to 0.5m high lies on the S side of an unnamed burn before crossing to the N as a turf dyke to curve N to the river Croe. The N section is largely obscured by rushes & bracken. It is shown on the 1971 OS survey but not on the 1st or 2nd edition OS maps. This boundary may have originally been associated with the settlement of Morvachmor which is recorded on Roy's survey of c1750.

A drystone structure with angular hearting (ie professionally built) abuts this to form a pen c3m by c2m, built of coursed masonry in contrast to the large vertical boulders of the dyke. The walls of this secondary feature are only 0.3m high and c0.8m wide. This may be contemporary with the sheepfold (KIN154).
