Activities

Field Visit (21 September 1997 - 21 September 1997)

A round-ended drystone building c5m by c4m incorporating large boulders in its walls c0.8m wide, survives to a height of c0.6m (4 courses). It is aligned NE/SW and is set in boggy ground.

Some 65m to the SW and set slightly behind the crest of a rise is a substantial drystone building measuring c9m by c4m. It is aligned NW/SE with walls surviving up to 0.7m high by 0.5m wide. There are no obvious room divisions.

This appears to be the remains of a small farmstead possibly abandoned in the early 19th century. It is presumed that the round ended building to the NW (KIN112) is part of the farmstead.

Information from NTS: KIN113 (JH and JW) 21st September 1997
