Field Visit (5 September 1997 - 5 September 1997)

A substantial well-built mortared building, c10m by c5m over walls c0.7m wide and standing to gable and roof height, is situated E of Glenlichd House and to the S of a drystone enclosure some 30m by 20m in area. The W end of the building has vertical slits for ventilation whereas the E end has a window. There is a cobbled frontage c1.5m wide along its N side. This building is not shown on the 1874 OS map, though another is shown to the NW.

This is presumably the stables for the ponies used during stalking from Glen Lichd. It could also have held a cow for the stalker/shepherd presumed resident here.
