This dovecot is a rectangular stone building with stone nesting boxes. The roof has largely fallen in, but otherwise the structure is sound.

It is unlikely to date from earlier than the late 18th century.

Site Management (25 October 2007)

Double chamber rectangular plan lectern dovecot. Random rubble with droved and plan quoins, stepped rat course/ alighting ledge. Two small doorways. Interior lined with stone nesting boxes.

Pyeston originally belonged to the Lindsay family, passing to Balfours of Balbirnie; the nearby farmhouse has a marriage lintel dated 1768 with the initials J(')WMW (Historic Scotland)
