This dam provides storage capacity and flow regulation for the Kerry Falls power scheme. The dam raised the level of the loch by approximately 12 feet to join two smaller lochs into a single large storage reservoir. The water passes through a gated valve and into a penstock leading to a needle valve approximately 200 metres downstream of the dam (see separate record) from where it flows through the original riverbed to the intake catchment. This is a small scale standard feature . This dam provides storage capacity and flow regulation for the Kerry Falls power scheme.
