(HU 2161 4955) Chapel (NR) (Site of)

Burial Ground (NR)

OS 6" map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1900)

A green spot in the burial ground is generally known to mark the site of a chapel, said to be pre-Reformation. It is possible that it belonged to the 13th or 14th century's, and that it fell into disuse at the Reformation.

Name Book 1878

There is now no trace of chapel or burial ground. Tradition of both still known locally.

Visited by OS (R L) 15 June 1968
