Activities

Loss (1 February 1782 - 28 February 1782)

(Classified as Revenue Cutter: date of loss cited as February 1782). Experiment: [this vessel was] wrecked whilst trying to enter Aberdeen Harbour. Capt. Cook.

Registration: British.

(Location of loss cited as N57 8.50 W2 4.00).

I G Whittaker 1998.

Named Location (Nlo) (18 August 2011)

NLO: Aberdeen [name: NJ 95 05].

Note (18 August 2011)

(Location entered as NJ c. 961 057 [N57 8.5 W2 4]). The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Aberdeen Harbour (NJ90NE 7.00) is centred at NJ 95 05. The present entrance may be considered to lie at NJ c. 961 057, but this location reflects development towards the East through the construction of successive piers and breakwaters.

This vessel evidently stranded.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 18 August 2011.
