Activities

Archaeological Evaluation (10 May 2010 - 14 May 2010)

N0 257 456 A single trench was opened across the line of a section of the upstanding bank and ditch close to the north-western corner of the park on Knock of Formal. Possible evidence for a former palisade line was located on top of the bank; the ditch was found to be very shallow. A peat-rich old ground surface was located under the bank and samples were taken for palaeoenvironmental analysis and radiocarbon dating; no finds were located. This work was undertaken 10–14 May 2010.
