Field Visit (2010)
This valvehouse is at the bottom end of the buried pipeline leading from Blackwater dam (NX68NW 108.1) and allows the powerhouse at Kendoon to be isolated for work on the turbines to be completed. This valve house exhibits an unusual degree of architectural design interest for a building type which is usually purely functional. The design is clearly derived from the adjacent powerhouse with a cohesive modern classical design scheme. P L Payne, 1988, 24; E Wood, 2002, 50; G Hill, 1984.
