Field Visit (22 May 2011)
This milestone, which now stands on the N verge of the A96 public road, is a cylindrical granite pillar measuring about 0.3m in diameter and 0.82m in height, rising from a splayed foot. The top of the stone slopes towards the road and bears an incised number '21', indicating the number of miles to Aberdeen. The stone is depicted on the S verge of the road (at NJ 71887 25494) on the 1st edition of the OS 25-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1868, Sheet LIV.10).
