NO29NE 4 centred 2737 9936.
Centred at NO 2737 9936, there is a settlement with associated field system, on the flat top and SE slopes of the hill called The Strone, between 1300 and 1540ft OD. Situated on either side of the military road are twenty - three circular huts, now heather or turf covered, varying between 6.0m and 13.0m in diameter from crest to crest, and fall into three groups according to size. Five are c.6.0m to 6.5m in diameter, seven between 9.0m to 10.0m, and eleven between 11.0m to 13.0m. Some are set into the slope to form a level platform, necessitating a large bank on the downward side, the top sector of the bank being comparatively slight. Where entrances can be ascertained, all are in the NE and E quadrants. The small circle at NO 2753 9965 appears modern because its stony wall is free of turf, but this is possibly due to later reconstruction. It is c.6.0m in diameter, with an entrance 2.0m wide in the SE.
Fields, averaging 20.0m by 22.0m, defined by lynchets and the remains of field walls, are most prominent in the S. of the system. They become progressively fewer to the N, but the ground can be seen to have been cleared, with several stone clearance heaps.
