This byre dwelling is shown as unroofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire and Buteshire 1875, sheet xliii)map but may in fact have been occupied as census reports tell us that there were two families living in the area until the decade starting 1881. It is of drystone construction with a dwelling area, a byre and an outshot. It is situated beneath a small cliff. Each part has its own doorway. No sign of any windows or crucks can be seen. The walls are up to 1.3 metres high, have rounded corners and are of an inner an outer layer with rubble infill. Probing suggests that the real level of the floor may be about 10cms deeper than the present level. Three broken pieces of a cast iron cauldron were found in the byre area. Stone dykes nearby form small enclosures.
