Activities

Field Visit (1 February 2009 - 1 March 2009)

Walking the site: Measured.

Five stack stands are still visible here. Each is about 2.5 metres in diameter an are raised about 10 cms above the surrounding ground. It is probable that there were more originally. A little to the north lies the base of a Dutch barn which was built towards the end of the Second World War using timber that had washed up on the shore of Cuil Bay. This was demolished at the end of the 1950s. To the south-west of this area there had been a drystone walled fank. This too was demolished about the same time and replaced by a wooden one. Apart from a concrete dip nothing remains of this.
