Publication Account (1976)

(Location cited as NT 132 832). Halbeath Railway Bridge, probably early 19th century. Semicircular arch in a bridge crossing the Forth Bridge approach railway, a stream, and the track of the Halbeath Railway, a mineral tramway.

J R Hume 1976, 136

Note (14 October 2010)

This early 19th century bridge (c.1830 and later to accommodate the Forth Railway Bridge approach line) has been recently strengthened with overhanging concrete trusses and strengthening rods. The render visble in the Hume photograph of 1976 has been removed to reveal the high quality masonry structure of the bridge. The tramway bed is still visible on the N side of the bridge. The moulding detail around the arch is repeated in the masonry arch over the Keithing Burn to the W.

Visited by RCAHMS (MMD) 14 October 2010.
