Activities

Orkney Smr Note (June 2001)

Cist discovered in garden of Kewing house during landscaping in June 2001. A rescue excavation was carried out and revealed a cist (0.82m E-W by 0.5m N-S by 0.5m deep) containing cremated bone and cramp. Some of this material would appear to have been placed in the cist while still hot. A possible cup-marked stone was found in the packing supporting the outside of the structure.
