Orkney Smr Note

Old Icelandic type of house, with a very long Sellar and a

side chamber called the ale-hurray. Masonry and general

appearance indicates great age. Originally owned by the Fletts of

Netherbrough and was probably their chief house.

Side walls and gables from 2.5ft - 2ft 8in thick. House

inhabited in 1922, but considerably altered and rebuilt in parts.

Old design still traceable and shows it to be of long sellar type

with ale-hurrays built out. [R1]
