Activities

Note (2 September 2010)

Leven Colliery is depicted and shown on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey 6-inch map (Fife, 1895, sheet 25), the colliery buildings covering an area of about 13,700 square metres. By 1914, the site is named and depicted as 'Leven Colliery Pits 1 and 2' (3rd edition Ordnance Survey 6-inch map, Fife, 1914, sheet 25). This colliery does not appear in the RCAHMS publication 'Scottish Collieries' and so was already closed by 1947. The site is now cleared (Ordnance Survey Mastermap (digital), 2010, viewed at1:2500).
