Archaeology Notes

NO23NW 19 unlocated.

The Church of Kettins (NO23NW 6) had six chapels dependent on it, one of which was at Muiryfaulds. The only Muiryfaulds located is at NO 4382 4285 in Inverarity parish, and it seems unlikely that this is the one referred to.

Note (1 December 1989)

The Statistical Account states that there were 'anciently' six chapels dependent upon the church of Kettins (NO23NW 6), and that most 'were within small inclosures used as burying places'. One of these chapels is said to have stood at 'Muiryfaulds', but whilst Muiryfaulds presumably lay within the parish of Kettins (NO23NW 6), it cannot be located more precisely.

Information from RCAHMS (PC) 1 December 1989.

OSA 1796.
