Architecture Notes

NL94NE 60 95105 47336

The walls of a croft have been identified from oblique aerial views taken in 2009 (RCAHMSAP 2009), situated in a field about 113m WSW of the restored thatched cottage at Creac Chrom (NL94NE 48).

All that can be seen are the grass grown tumbled walls of a building measuring about 23m by 6m which has at least four compartments. The building lies within an irregular shaped in plan enclosure.

The building is depicted as roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire, Island of Tiree etc 1881, sheet lxiv), which shows four compartments with an external well (the 25-inch scale 1st edition shows two wells).

Information from RCAHMS (DE), January 2010
