NO21NW 74 c. 23 18

A large carved stone ball (type 11: over 90mm diameter) from Newburgh with 14 knobs, ie. two round bosses and twelve triangular ones, is in RMS (AS 201).

The carved stone ball that is held in the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number NMS AS 201 is provenanced as from 'Newburgh, Fife' and was bought at Dowell's Isles Sale in 1900. It measures 3.25 ins (83mm) in diameter, is divided by grooves into fourteen traiangular and circular low knobs, has been worked from coarse-grained sandstone, and weighs 900.4 gms.
