Architecture Notes

NT19SE 121 16489 92020

Cowdenbeath picture house is situated at the N end of the High Street on the E side.

Designed as a cinema by James McKissock and opened in 1912 with seating for over 1500 people. The building was rebuilt by A B King in the mid 1930s and renamed as 'The New Picture House'.

It had been internally redesigned as a part bingo hall sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970s and survived in this form until the 1980s and is now a Premier Bingo hall.
