Archaeology Notes

NO21NE 17 c. 266 168.

The Scots defeated the English in 1300, in the battle of 'Dellecarrew field', near the castle of Lindores (NO21NE 21).

J Balfour 1825.

The only mention of this battle is by Balfour. It is not mentioned by Hume Brown, Lang, Wright, Tytler, Skene, Burton, Fordun or Wyntoun, suggesting that, if it took place at all, it was on a much smaller scale than Balfour implies.
