(NO 2851 1803 ) Church (NR) (Site of)
OS 6"map, (1959)
Described in 1854 are the remains of an old church situated near Dunbog House (see NO21NE 1), which is considered to occupy the site of the Preceptory of Gadvan. Though its date of erection is unknown, the church was connected with this preceptory, and belonged to Balmerino Abbey. At the Reformation, it became the parish church, until 1803, when the present parish church was built at NO 2898 1796.
The church which measured about 46' by 12', is ruinous, the walls being only 3' high. Its interior is used as a burial place. A small piece of ground around it is enclosed and was used as a graveyard.
Name Book 1854.
Nothing remains of the church. The low, modern wall of two burial vaults occupies the eastern portion of the site, while a slight hollow 7.0m by 5.0m is all that indicates the W part of the church. It would therefore appear to have measured overall 16.0m by 5.0m.

Following on from work carried out previously (Farrell 1998), surveys were made of several churchyards in Fife.
NO 2851 1803 66 memorials were recorded. A study was made of related documents, especially the Kirk of Session records.
