Watching Brief (15 January 2021 - 20 January 2021)
NS 92735 45186 Archaeological monitoring works were carried out in support of the change of use for the Ravenstruther Railhead from temporary to permanent rail sidings. The archaeological works were designed to mitigate the impact on any archaeological remains within the development area.
A concrete foundation pad and two areas of made ground associated with the late 20th century coal railhead were identified. The works did not identify the presence of any significant archaeological features within the development area. As a result, no further works are recommended.
