Beacons [NAT]

OS (GIS) MasterMap, October 2008.

Not to be confused with lighthouse at NF 59282 62723, see NF56SE 2.00.

One or other of these two beacons is presumably to be equated with the automatic beacon that was built in 1996 or 1997. The engineer was Bob McIntosh.

The indicated location slies on offshore rocks on the NW side of the Sound of Shillay, near the W end of this extensive but low-lying group of islands which are situated in the Atlantic, to the W of North Uist.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 13 October 2008.

K Allardyce 1998.
