Field Visit (9 June 1988)

NO17SW 100 1185 7295

Beside an unnamed tributary of the Allt a' Ghlinne Bhig, and incorporated on the SE side of the old head-dyke, there are the remains of a building (measuring 7m from NE to SW by 4.4m transversely over turf-covered stone wall-footings 0.8m in thickness) on the SE side of which there is a fragment of the NE angle of what may be a horizontal mill; this is indicated by a stony bank up to 1.5m in thickness and 0.8m in height. An upright slab is set across the burn at this point. A second building (NO 1187 1297), incorporated on the NW side of the head-dyke, measures 6m from SW to NE by 4.4m transversely over stone walls, reduced to their lowest courses, 0.9m in thickness and up to 0.5m in height.
