NLO: Handa Island [name centred NC 136 481]

Tarbet [name centred NC 164 488]

Port of Tarbet [name centred NC 160 488].

Possibly on map sheet NC14NW.

(No classification specified: cargo cited as salt, and date of loss as 30 November 1831). Unknown: this vessel struck rocks near the Isle of Handa, [came] adrift, [went[ ashore, and [was] lost [in] Tarbet Bay. [Capt]. Scobie.

Registration: Stranraer. Built 1871. 116grt. Length: 27m. Beam: 7m.

(Location of loss cited as N58 23.0 W5 10.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentaive, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker. Tarbet Bay is presumably to be equated with Port of Tarbet.
