Field Visit (September 1988)

NO16SW 46 1400 6321.

This farmstead is situated 190m SW of Lair and comprises two buildings, set at right angles to each other, and a kiln. The larger building may be of three compartments and measures 24.3m by 6m over turf-covered stone wall-footings 1.2m thick. The smaller building, which is defined largely by robber-trenches, is of two compartments and measures 8.2m by 6.1m over all. A third building or pen measures 10.8m by 3.2m over a bank 0.6m thick and 0.2m high.

Two enclosures, one of which has four compartments and may be a sheepfold, are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Perthshire 1865-7, sheet xxxiii), but they are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1977).
