(Classified as wooden ketch: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as October 1928). Castle Varech: this vessel stranded at Tongue Island, and became a constructive total loss.

Registration: Wick. Built 1898. 41grt. Length: 19m. Beam: 6m.

(Location of loss cited as N58 33.0 W4 25.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Tongue Island is not noted as such on the 1999 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but is probably to be equated with one of the Rabbit Islands, to the W of Tongue Bay.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 25 June 2008.
