The boiler and engine houses are situated at the NW corner of the main and old mills. The engine house is a single storey extension to the Old End Mill and is built with round-headed windows with a timber piended slate roof with rooflights. The building is adjecent to the gable of the Main Mill and also extends into the basement. The gable wall has a massive cast iron beam which incoparates a central vertical drive and is carried on cast-iron doric columns.

Built after the 1837 fire to rpovide additional power for the new extension to the mill. The power was intially a beam engine replaced in 1944 by an electric generator now removed. The switchgear for the generator survives.
