Torphin Golf course extends over an area of about 32 hectares over most of Torphin Hill. Bounded on the N by Torphin Quarry and on the S by Torduff Reservoir (NT26NW 436).
The golf course is first depicted on the OS maps by the date of the 2nd edition (2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map [Edinburghshire, 1908-9, sheet 12), with the club house originally situated on the N side, the building having been demolished at a later date.
