A mill annotated 'Mill of Insch' is depicted at approximately this location on the 1797 Leith Hall Plan of the Town and Lands Of Insch (E 33932). It is adjacent to what appears to be an old course of the Water of Shevack, from which a short lade passes the mill. Three further buildings and a garden lie NE of the mill.
