Reservoir situated about 1Km SW of West Hopes farmstead (NT56SE 29), dam (NT 54995 62157) and sluice system with weirs across the Hopes Water.
The reservoir is not shown on either the 1st or 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch maps (Haddingtonshire, 1854-5 and 1908, sheet 19) respectively.
