Archaeology Notes

NM47NW 81 40034 79980

Three huts, an enclosure, a mound and an area of lazy-bed cultivation are situated on a grassy terrace to the E of Achadh na Creige. The huts (Muck02 295-6, 298) lie on a raised area at the rear of the terrace and range in size from 2.1m to 3.5m in length and 1.6m to 2.2m in breadth within stony banks. The enclosure (Muck02 440) measures 5.3m by 3.8m within stone footings. It is built against the NW side of a stony mound that measures 8.2m by 7m and from 1.2m in height on the NW to 0.5m in height on the SE (Muck02 297). Two dimples in the top of the mound may indicate the positions of further huts, as may a scatter of stones to the NE.

(Muck02, 295-8, 440)
