Field Visit (5 August 1988)
NO15NE 21 1543 5961 and 1541 5956
The remains of two hut-circles are situated at the lower, W edge of a field-system which comprises numerous small cairns and lengths of stony bank which form at least one complete enclosure.
1. NO 1543 5961 This hut-circle sits on the edge of a rocky terrace and measures at least 6m in diameter within a turf covered rubble bank 1.4m thick and 0.3m high. The entrance is probably on the S side but its exact position is not obvious.
2. NO 1541 5956 This hut-circle survives as a platform which is bisected NW to SE by a stone dyke; it measures about 9m in diameter across the platform from NE to SW and there is a distinct rear scarp (0.5m high) and front apron but little formal wall fabric. The SW half of the platform is partially obscured by field-clearance and the position of the entrance was not noted.
